10th Grade stratum Reading Book by American Author?
My teacher is getting annoyed with my class because we can't stay focused for more than 2 minutes while we're reading because the books she picks for use are adjectives really old and boring. The first book we read was The Crucible by Arthur Miller, which we never finished and the second book we are reading is another play write that is call " A Street Car Named Desire" i can't remember his last name it begins next to a T Anyways these books are both very old and boring and my teacher have ADHD so we can't make the littlest bit of noise or she gets distracted and if we win bored and start dozing off she yells and gets cracked but even if she isn't mad she yells all the time it's purely how she talks and it is annoying. (THE REAL BEGINNING OF MY QUESTION) We made a deal with her that if we find a book specifically by an American Author and is at least a 10th grade reading level next we can read it instead. So i was wondering if you had any books in suggestion. we are really into commotion books that involve gangs for example the outsiders, but the outsiders she says in a 9th title reading level so we can't read it. but if you have any books in mind similar to it next please share.

Good Will Hunting. <}:-})
The Road
Into the Wild
White Fang
Call of the Wild
Hunger Games Source(s): These are all really really honest books I read through high school.
Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger. That's a fantastic book. There's all kinds of crazy things contained by that book. Seriously, suggest that one, it sounds like your class would like it.
I taught both plays and my classes seem to enjoy them. Perhaps your teacher doesn't understand them herself. What you involve to do is to find a play like Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman" and get a copy of the play to watch surrounded by class. Dustin Hoffman was in a CBS presentation and your class should be able to see it.
Tennessee Williams is the author of "Streetcar." Taught correctly, it should stimulate discussion. Old is not bad if you can be motivated and you understand it.
I recommend books by John Steinbeck. My classes enjoyed them too.
