In the book Fahrenheit 451, why does the author choose Guy Montag to represent the book of Ecclesiastes?

Answers:
Wow that's a tough one. I just read it, like a month ago, so let me deliberate. In my opinion, since he's the protagonist, he's the one the reader comes to relate to. We experience it through his eyes and understand his pain at seeing books anyone destroyed. That he comes to memorize bible passages seems to mean he have decided to remember one of, if not the most important books ever written. It's up to him to take that memory until it can be re-written again.

That's my take on it, a pretty deep question. Hope that help.
