*She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb
*Willow by Julia Hoban
*Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho
*The Linnet Bird by Linda Holeman
*Mystic River by Dennis Lehane
Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. It is an amazing book, adjectives about a girl who commits suicide and her reasons why. It's chilling and productive and completely engrossing. But there's hope in the end, so it's not completely dark. It make you think.
THe Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins isn't exactly literary, but it is a great novel nonetheless. I literally couldn't put it down and, as soon as I was done, I bought the sequel.
A really difficult but lovely read? The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, or The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.
