Is Blake or Blade better for surnames of the vampire characters contained by my book?
My Character names are Adam, Zagan, and Amelia. I like both of those last name. I think Blake goes better with adjectives of them but I want something more dangerous sounding like Blade. Then again, I like both so lend a hand me out.
Answers:
Blake is a great designation i think Blade would remind people of the movie.
Keep writing and good luck Source(s): I'm writing my own vampire original
i am just warning you that in the house of dark series there is a vampire called Loren Blake so alot of people will muse you copied the name. so go with BLADE. It match a name for a vampire as well.
hope i helped. upright luck (:
from Victoria.
As stated, "Blade" has been taken by a comic book/movie/TV series character who is partially vamp.
Now on to another problem you have:
Speaking as another writer and as an editor. I strongly urge you to not have characters with name that begin with the same packages.
If your future editor is on the ball, she will tell you indistinguishable thing.
It's a rookie mistake to have characters with name beginning with the same note. It doesn't matter that they are different genders as you have them, it get confusing.
I once had a Laura and a Louie in one of my books. Even *I* couldn't keep them straight! I changed Louie to Bernie and the problem solved itself.
Ditto for a published chum of mine, who had a Daniel and a David. Her editor asked for one of them to get a new signature before publication.
A way to avoid this when you're picking out names for characters is to divide a sheet of broadsheet into 26 squares with a letter in respectively.
As you pick a name, write it in the proper letter square and consider that one closed.
You can reuse some post for secondary characters who don't appear in the same scene near anyone else having the same letter start on their cross.
Also avoid alike sounding/looking names like Emily, Amalee, Rosalie or Adam and Amanda.
You wanted help--you get it! ;>)
If you use Blade, everyone will probably think of the vampire movie "Blade"
I surmise Blake sounds much more like a real name to me anyway
If you're looking for a unique and different name Blade.
Blake is just alright. I know six guys within my school named Blake.
What's wrong with Blaze? It's a really great first name and it makes you think of fire.
Blake, Blade will be compaired to movie
