Fahrenheit 451 interrogate..............?
I wanted to know exactly why Mildred wanted to commit suicide. I would like a nice detailed answer.
Thanks!

Whenever I see an asker say aloud he or she would like a 'nice detailed answer' I get suspicious.
It sounds so much like the asker scarcely read the book in question, you know?
Like an 'essay' answer would be nice...
"Fahrenheit 451" (in case you're a in danger of extinction exception) is a pretty easy book to understand and so is Mildred's wish for suicide (which occur early on). ADD: If any suicide is 'easy to understand.' End ADD
She feels she can't maintain Montag, can't keep herself safe, can't keep anything the instrument it could be, so she thinks suicide could be an answer. Source(s): Have read the book a few times.
I can't give a very detailed answer, but I have always assumed that it was because she had no excitement, variance or personal contact in her life. She also had no opportunity for independant thought and was incompetent to emotionally express herself.
In the book she doesn't seem to know herself, but suicide is very common, so I thought it to be to do beside the type of society they lived in.
