The Last Book Ever Written?

I need this novel title, please.

I believe this book is aimed at young adults and the title is something along the lines of "The Last Book Ever Written" although no google/amazon look into has come up with anything.

The story centers around a boy living in a dystopian, broken down, futuristic society. Everyone uses some form of computer program which is injected directly into a person's spine, and consequently nobody requirements to deal with reality anymore. The boy cannot use the needles, however, because he is epileptic. He finds an ancient man who predates the collapse of society and the man appears to be the last person on earth who can read. The two jaunt together and eventually his friend is killed for some silly reason and the boy, who was skilled about books and such, writes a novel in the first creature about what happened to him and the old man.

Any abet would greatly appreciated. This has been bugging me for years and I would to read this book again.

Okay, so I went to Barnes & Noble on Saturday, picked up two books, Push (the movie Precious!! It's so great), and Les Miserables. So I think I'm going to finish Push either today or tomorrow (I don't want it to back though) and I plan on reading Les Miz in the start...
