THE LORD OF THE RINGS {BOOK}?

Question is should I read the book? I got the book ( the whole series) from the library and I am now wonder if it will be worth it to read..

So enjoy you read it? Is it any good?
Answers:
It's a loooonnnnggg series. But why not right? They must be classics for a reason.
The book is a classic and it is unlike any other book I have read. A lot of people complain that it is too boring and slow but the truth is that it is simply not meant for everybody.

It is impossible to convey to the unknown reader all of the book's qualities, and the range of its creation. By turns comic, homely, epic, monstrous and diabolic, the narrative moves through countless change of scenes and character in an whimsical world which is totally convincing in its detail. Tolkien created a new mythology in an invented world which have proved timeless in its appeal.

That's all i can say. I enjoy no more words to describe Tolkien's genius. Source(s): You should also read "the tale of the children of Húrin", also by Tolkien. It is a Masterpiece.
You may be spending a lot of time renewing the books unless you can read it all within a month.
the english speaking world is divided into those who have read the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and those who are going to read them.

the movies are crap, barely highlights of the books, next to several major scenes and characters not even rating a mention. go for it, they're fantastic. if they weren't.... they wouldn't enjoy made the movies in the first place.
the movies dont really do it sprite... the books are SOOOOOO Much better
I reflect it's excellent. World class literature. A classic. Almost everybody loves it. A must read.

The Hobbit is the prequel and it's great too.
I have read it over 30 times! But, at first, it might seem enormously slow to read, with a lot of obsolete words, expressions, and phrases (hook up to the HyperDictionary online and look up any words that confuse you, it will make the reading easier)

keep this within mind, when Tolkien began the book he had no idea where on earth he was going with it, so the first book is a lot of 'meandering' of the Hobbits until they achieve Rivendell and meet Aragorn, Boromir, Gimli, and Elrond... after that, it finally starts to pick up speed and finally move as a story. That is the part of the book where Tolkien finally 'knew' where on earth he was going with the story and after that it practically wrote itself.

Also keep contained by mind that the book was written by a man who loved language, created languages, and used them through the story

worthy luck!
Yes, they are very good books. The movies don't quite follow accounts (the movies are very good) and he books have more detail.
WHY NOT??
seriouly though why not.
they are great books and are considered classics and i know from experience they can get very long
but they are still really good. Read the books first then survey the movies. I'm a middle earth geek so i'm oppsesed with the series and i highly recommend them
It's a book?
one of the best trilogys ever written CS Lewis who wrote the Narnia series and Tolkien were subdivision of a group called the Inklings and advised each other subsequent to CS Lewis Tolkien is the next best fantasy writer out there he in truth wrote this series for his son who was a RAAF pilot in WW2 to give him something to read when he wasn't surrounded by flight and remind of home he was also greatly influenced by Norse Mythology as well and you can see that in the name of the characters.
this is simply the best trilogy ever wrote
