Romantic Novels, comfort me?

I just have need of to know what makes a novel romantic!

There just have to be a love story in it and sometimes there is racey stuff in them to.
I,personally, love stories where romance is between humans and monsters(like vampires,werewolfs, demons, angels etc...)
I regard as that this horror like tone makes it more stragefull and romantic.
If you are doing this for a class, then you want to be aware that the terms "romance" and "romantic" have very different meaning at times, all of which can be applied to a novel. Go to Google and type in "Romance" and see what you win. Later do the same thing for "romantic." A Romance is not just a love story.
On the other appendage, if you are not doing this for a class, you are probably thinking of a novel which is essentially a love story, and that would be your definition.
