"Hamlet is not a tragic hero"?
This is my debate topic, now I need some ideas on which I should work on?

he is not even a hero in my evaluation. he is a guy who could never make a decision, killed his friend, and spent more time thinking than doing. Source(s): read the innovative in high school. can`t bear shakespeare with a passion.
the term tragic has a specific target in literature...it means that the hero/heroine is under the influence of forces they cannot control...and it usually turns out poorly...so it is impossible to argue that Hamlet is not tragic...as far as hero go, again the term usually means the main personality who is fighting against those forces they cannot control...there is very little efficacy assigned in these terms

although hamlet is in fact and archetypal hero in adjectives aspects as he fufills all the archetypal elements,,,

-goes from extrmely happy to devistation suddenly
