Should I read Cirque du Freak?

My parents are slightly strict on what I read. They aren't very thrilled about all the vampire stories. I've read Twilight, and they are fine next to that, but is this book a lot darker? Does anyone think they would enjoy a problem with me reading this book? I saw the movie, and it was very gloom, so I really want to know if the book is too.

Its not dark at all and its a great read. I read the series when i saw 11 so i think you'll be fine. Yes the breed the movie alot spookier than it originally was in the book. You should defiantly read it.
Take a bucket of diet 7-UP and pour it over you. Now you're all saccharine sweet and sparlkly, in recent times like Twilight. Now do the same thing, but near a bucket of human blood that's been festering in the sun on the back porch for a while. That is Cirque Du Freak. How frail are you - over 14? You can probably handle it, if your parents approve. Why not read some decent horror, like Stoker's inspired Dracula, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Stevenson's Jekyll & Hyde, anything by E.A. Poe or Stephen King or Dean Koontz?
No no itll be fine. The book is not too dark its very light and thought provoking though next to bits of humor and such (do watch out for the Demonata).
The movie on the other hand ... ... ... ill basically leave it there
The books not tremendously dark. most of the time its quite light hearted and funny at times. Ive read adjectives the books and they are one of the best series ive ever read. If you dont read them you will be missing out on something special xD
