Homage to Catalonia by George Orwell?
Are the general events described in the book real? I know it's a work of fiction, but what i intended is: Was there an actual laborer's revolution in Catalonia?
BQ: Besides Animal farm and 1984, what's your favorite Orwell new-fangled?

I pay homage to something else.

G Orwell described Catalonia during the 2nd. Spanish Republic 1931 & the Civil War that followed (1936-1939 ) The republican government gave support to Catalonia some extra autonomous rights ie.using their own language.
Backed up by different political & union parties, communist, anarchist & socialist the workers tried to pilfer the power during the Barcelona insurrection. You have to keep in mind that Catalonia (& the Vascos also) be the industrial part of Spain, the rest of the country being rather contained by a feudal state. Orwell in his fiction Homage to Catalonia describes in a accurate manner adjectives the social unrest of this sad period,as well as adjectives the divisions among Republicans.
since the works are considered "fiction", you have to consider the events in the book aren't real although they be based on real events at the time.
I am thinking that george orwell also wrote "Farenheit 451" which is another prophecy of what is going on right now contained by our society. If you consider how far ahead of his time his stories are, it's amazing.
I grew up in the 60's and I have watched George Orwells books run from fiction to fact or these years. The one sad truth is that we all own an opportunity to realize where we are, where we are going and that no one have the desire to change it.
