What be the heading of this children's book?
I loved a book when I was younger about two children a boy and girl, twins, who went round the rural community green and ended up eating barley sugar from the shop. It had a slightly Victorian surface about it but cannot for the life of me rememeber the name!!

Toby and Tess are twins. They live with their mother in a cottage on a village green. When their mother desires them out of the house, she sends them to the village green where they can play safely. The enjoy a favourite spot: a bench underneath a big chestnut tree. Here one day they meet older Teller, the mysterious storyteller.
