Burton Raffel says the poet of beowulf has the biggest insight into the characters of the story. Do you agree or not and why?
Answers:
hmmm. i am a little beowolf rusty but if he made up the characters later yes. if he wrote the tale about preexisting characters then no.
No I do not, because the inventive tale of Beowulf was a story told by Pagans, however the monk who wrote the epic took out much of the Pagan influence and instead put in nonsensical, incompatible references to Christianity. Because the monk did not stay true to the beliefs of the people in the epic, I must strongly disagree that he have any insight into the characters.
