Does Stephanie Meyer Deserve The Success?
i personally think she doesn't (I'm 15)
her writings boring, there's no plot (the last 60 page doesn't count) and all her characters are mary sues, they might as well be made of cardboard
compared to other modern writers such as Terry Pratchett and JK Rowling it doesn't even remotely compare, but all my friends read it and regard as that they're so smart and well read
Answers:
nope,
she ruined vampires
she made the 'vampires' sparkle in the sunlight, while existing vampires are suppose to die in the sunlight
she made them sex/love obsessed, she made them romantic freaks
and the 'vampires' in twilight dont even drink blood!
twilight fan are crazy.
vampires forever
as in the blood dark ones.
screw twilight, it can lick my poossy.
I don't think that people can judge whether anyone 'deserves' glory or not. She didn't write those books just to get famous and successful, she wrote those books because she have an idea that she wanted to write down and tell culture. So, as you don't know her - and so what if you don't like her books, other people obviously do, and that's why she did draw from successful - you shouldn't judge her. Its like your saying that someone who won the lottery didn't 'deserve' to because they might not be the best intellectual skills surrounded by the world. I personally love the books, but i understand that citizens have different opinions. So that's what you lot should do. Get over it.
Absolutely.
It;s obvious nearby is a ton of people into her series, and maybe its not a great literary piece, but she's created a world that a lot of associates like to get lost in.
I don't overly think so. Im not going to bash her though. Im blissful for her, let her bask in it while she can. I just miss the days where on earth guys thought I was the cool girl for liking vampires. Now that they sparkle, its kinda stopped. >.<
Still, I hope I can get as successful as her. I write better, that's for sure, and I'm 13. I a short time ago don't know if my idea's are good. Then again...
Sparkly vegetarian vampires versus my carnivorous vampire dynasty. Hm... ;D
I have read Narnia, Alice surrounded by Wonderland, 2001, Childhood's End, and a whole bunch of other classics of British literature, as well as the Grimms Brothers, both in English and German. And I really don't resembling Twilight either. Can't get into it. I guess it just isn't geared towards nation like you and me, who like the classics. It's more for those who typically don't like reading I guess.
I have to realize a long time ago I'm not everyone. To each their own. She wrote something that a lot of people resembling, even if I don't personally care for it. So in that method she does deserve what publicity she gets. it probably won't be a great American classic, but I guess it will always be a cult classic.
I don't believe she "ruined" vampires. Since they don't exist, what's there to ruin? I regard a similar argument was made in "Vampires Don't Wear Polka Dots". Since there's no real vampires to compare, who's to speak they don't? (As you can plainly see, Myth Purists, piss me off even more than Stephanie Meyer ever will. They can argue she ruined vampires, but they're the ones who ruined creativity in modern fantasy beside their "Elves need to do this" and "vampires can't do that" garbage.)
And your friends thinking their so smart... I don't think Twilight's really to blame for that deficit of maturity. Most 15 year olds think they know everything. It just give them the leverage to think so.
I'm 20, contained by college, and I can't even read two pages of her work without thinking that I've read fanfics by 13 year olds that are better.
She deserves NO fame and I preference no one had ever published her books.
Stephenie Meyer is definitely not the best writer in the world but she did find a course to, 1: inspire teenage girls to pick up a book and start reading 2: she reinvented the whole Vampire myth. It's not like she's be nominated to receive the nobel, she's just living out her ten seconds in the spotlight. Go ahead and rant if it make you feel better, but Meyer has already taken quite a defeat, kicking someone when they're down is just low. By the way, the whole "mary sue" item is totally played out.
