Which of these 2 popular 50s novel is worth studying?

Lolita, or Catcher in the Rye?
Answers:
Both of them.

I don't agree with the previous answer. Nabakov is a great writer and Lolita a well-mannered - albeit provocative - novel.
They are both classic novels. Lolita is the more disturbing as it deal with subjects which are very sensitive just very soon. If you have time, read both of them quickly and then want which you feel you prefer to study in more detail.
Catcher...unless you enjoy a 2-bit author indulges his love of pedophilia.
Well I personally prefer Lolita but it might be a little more work as far as terms investigation.
They're both good, Catcher In The Rye is easier and less disturbing if you're upset by really menacing ideas. Source(s): doing english at uni right now.
