You could try charity shops, or amazon.
There is a really good website called The Book People. They often enjoy sets of books. I don't know if they have any Agatha Christie at the moment but it might be worth having a look.

try second hand book shops, they have loads of good books for a fraction of the price.
Try ABEbooks.com - they have a huge schedule of secondhand and out of print books. You can buy from UK and USA. Often the prices are really low (but plus postage, of course).

I would argue that he doesn't; he uses language to establish rather than develop. I'd recommend you to read the section of E.M. Forster's Aspects of the Novel that deal with flat and round characters.
