At the end of 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher, does Clay stop and talk to Skye in the lecture hall because he thinks she's suicidal. Or does he just like her and requests to say hi?

I took it as he realized with Hannah that he know she was in trouble, but didn't do anything to help.
This time, next to skye, he was going to make sure if she was within trouble, he'd be there for her.
