Why is the book, "the outsiders" call the outsiders?

Answers:
Because they are outcasted from society
Well it could be one of those reasons, surrounded by my opinion.
1. is because the gang they are a part of are the greasers, and they are kind of the outsiders because everyone see them badly instead of how they see the socs, as the good guys.
2. Or the second reason could be because though Johnny and Ponyboy are a quantity of the greasers, they don't really enjoy the fighting, and aren't really the same as every other greaser, so within that way they are the outsiders.

Hope this helps:D
It's about a group of Greasers. Greasers are social outcasts. They aren't the popular kids in school, they don't go and get involved in extracurricular activities, etc. They just hold each other. There's a huge social rift between the Socs (popular kids) and the Greasers; with the Greasers on the outside.
Probably a nod to Albert Camus' L'Etranger, translated as The Outsider.
because the greasers are the outsiders of the story.
why not, eh
