Why is Huckleberry Finn Banded from most libraries?

i am watching 20Q and it said that it is banded from most libraries. why is that?
Answers:
IT would be banned from libraries because of the racism to be precise in it. I don't know about your libraries but mine still has it, it may be removed from some but I don;t know in the region of most.
I doubt that it's banned (not "banded"--sorry!) from MOST libraries, but it may be banned from some. If it is, however, the people whose objection have brought that result about evidently don't understand its social insincerity. It may appear racist to some, but actually Twain was satirizing racism, along near a few other social attitudes that the Civil War hadn't put an end to.

In fact, not only is it adjectives that Embroidery Fan says, but many consider it the Great American Novel. Source(s): Retired English professor
Hi, I'm another retired English professor who agrees completely with Aida. Some of Twain's characters used the "N" word. Twain was reflecting the language of the culture of his day. If you wrote a novel about the Ku Klux Klan today, you would enjoy to decide whether to use the "N" word or write around it.

It is interesting to point out that Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote in his journals that as long as that word existed within would never be racial equality in America. That was prior to Twain's writing of Huckleberry Finn. Of course I don't believe Twain ever get an opportunity to read Emerson's Journals.
It isn't, that is complete nonsense.

I'd say any you misheard it or the show is run by idiots. Source(s): Been to plenty of libraries and Huckleberry Finn is one of the most respected books in American Literature, it has only be banned in a few remote libraries by cranks.
If it is banned within some locations, it is because the book was written during an earlier period of American history. During that time, Mark Twain wrote the book reflecting the prejudices of the time toward African-Americans.

The book illustrate how society thought negatively about African-Americans. Huck meets up with an African-American man, who dialogue in an authentic manner for the time. Some people touch it is better to censor your reading such a book, than to know what the true societal feeling was, at that time.

You can get the book at a used book store and read it. It is truly a classic of children's and adults' literature!
