How can I find out if a book have be written/published on a trustworthy subject, I enjoy an view I want to protect?
I have an idea for a book but I want to make sure not a soul has written on the same subject before.

Don't worry about it, near are loads of books written on the same subject. Just look at all the books nearly vampires!
One word. GOOGLE.

Whenever I muse of a new story to write, I also want to know if it's already been written or published by some other person. As long as you word what you're looking for surrounded by the right way, it might help you out =]
If your idea have already been used by another person, don't let that discourage you from writing it because you could other bring something different to your book, and it may even turn out better than the books already published.

If you can construe of a subject that hasn't been written about it will be more than a miracle. The trick is to find a different slant on the subject. Don't worry just about whether it has been done before in recent times write what you want to and do it in your own style. Good luck whatever you decide. Source(s): Experience.
It doesn't matter if anyone else has written on the subject. That does not prohibit you from doing so as well. If you are not sure anyone else have, that is sufficient evidence your material is original. Likewise, you obligation not 'protect' your work other than affixing a 'copyright' statement to it.
You are more likely to come across different books that all enjoy the same idea - think vampires, wizardry, etc.
Stories that are more out-of-the box dont usually achieve published because it doesnt have an established market, or doesnt have greater open market potential. However, you can always publish your unique idea. Readers want to pick up books next to fresh and creative stories. That story could be yours. =)
