This sounds a little bizarre, but if anyone could help me, it would help me out tons.
Does anyone know of any classic novel that have a strange/unusual tale behind them?
FOR EXAMPLE - I know Frankenstein be thought of by Shelley during a ghost story telling competition.

I would try Wiki, they go more in depth and if this is for a project you can find legitimate sources through Wiki versus out opinion. :)
I don't know anything like that but the Bronte sisters all used the same final name for their male pen names. Many populace thought they were all the same personage. But in truth they were three sisters pretending to be men.
