Looking into getting an e-book....?
I may be getting an e-book for Christmas (mom always asks what I want). I'm curious as to which brand is best. Are they going to be coming out with new generation around Christmas time? About how much do the ebook downloads cost? Would you recommend an ebook? I'm simply curious as to the pros and cons. Just want to do my research before actually asking for one. Any other info you can provide is great.

It seems the two most popular ones out within are the Kindle from Amazon and the Sony. Personally if I were to get one I'd choose the Sony because it is less fixed in where you can buy ebooks than the Kindle (which I understand you can individual purchase books from Amazon with) and Amazon has had some bad publicity contained by retracting their ebooks after they have been purchased.
I haven't really seen any complaints going on for the
Sony and I like the fact that it has a backlit eyeshade and reads pdf files.
I do know there are others out there but I haven't see much about them. I'd suggest doing a little research both on the Amazon site for Kindle and the Borders site for the Sony (I'm pretty sure they're a distributer).
Both sites seem to enjoy ebooks from a couple dollars up to around $15.00 depending on what book you're interested in. I know that Amazon has free book downloads on occasion as resourcefully.
The Sony site has a comparison guide which I'm sure is biased but is interesting nonetheless. I'm including the link below.
I think they both own relatively new ereader releases but I'm not positive.
