Answers:
The Agatha Christie mysteries are the best ever. They take place from the 1920s to the 1960s, I don't know if that's what you mean by old time books or not. They are appropriate reads, and I never figured one of them out. The best ones are "Murder on the Orient Express," "Death on the Nile" and I really liked "Peril at End House" and "Postern of Fate."
The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin I read it in the sixth grade consequently again in the eighth grade, it was a thoroughly amazing book. I also recommend I'd Tell you I Love you but then I'd have to kill you by Ally Carter. I know a large amount of historical romance novels, not colonial, like im talkin HISTORICAL and most set in scottland and england, and france, but i wont bother you next to them.
my faves are:
-the twilight series stephenie meyer
