You should try the Talisman, its written by King and Peter Straub, similar to the dark Tower series, which is my fav story of all time, also prepared black house which is the second part to the talisman, pretty much everything from Stephen King IS awesome!

The His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman (The Golden Compass is the first) is an excellent series, too.

I loved the Dark Tower. But in all honesty, I've not really found another epic figment of your imagination that combines all the elements that King did.
