librivox.org They enjoy older books that are public domain recorded by users, so it is all 100% lawful.

My favorite source is the public library. My local library has literally hundreds of audio books to choose from, and they are free, of course. Source(s): librivox.org and the local library

http://audiobooks.com Explore "About Us" at the bottom of the homepage to see if this site costs, but note it also say "New, Used, Trade" on the homepage...
....All of interest.
...Just be sure about any 'trades' done; be sure of any price.

http://www.gutenberg.org I know you said you don't want "old books" but many of the tens of thousands at Project Gutenberg (to listen to as well) are extremely popular... that's what make them classics.

Suggest you also call the main branch of your local library and talk to the citation librarian there...
...He or she will tell you what and if and how to get audio books in attendance. Many have downloads.
...Have you library card ready and be sure to ask about any fees against it.
...Also be sure to have a chat to the reference librarian, not the one busy checking books out to others.

Good luck.

P.S. Be sure you aren't going 'illegal' here - there are stories almost daily nearly folks being caught with pirated material. A book below copyright is not legal to get for free.
*Except for up to a month and more and a library. Call-in renewal also helps.* Source(s): Ex-librarian and more; retired.
