The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants & the sequel?
I got these two books as a gift and I don't know if I should read them. I've heard of this book and see the trailer for the movie, but I haven't seen the actual movie. I want to know from the people that have read this- what they surmise of the book. Can you tell me what it's about? Not too much spoilers though.

If you got them as a gift WHY wouldnt you read them? It's not as if you are trying to wish whether to buy them or not. Just go for it!
It's basically nearly four girls who go to different places over the summer holidays. They mail around a pair of jeans and write to respectively other about their experiences. It's pretty funny and if you like lighthearted books about friendship, you should read it. It isn't really the type of the book that I read, but after I read it, I liked it.
There are four girls who are very different - the sporty girl, the latino girl, the Greek girl and the artsy girl, adjectives different body shapes.
They were born within a month of each other and the mothers / parents be friends as they went to the same pre-birthing classes, the girls remain friends although the parents don't really.
For the first summer in their lives (they are approx 15 or 16) they must walk their seperate ways over the summer to different things.
They happen upon these "magical" jeans that fits all of them.
They set up some rules and this includes having the jeans for similar to 1 or 2 weeks at a time over the summer before sending them on with what's happened to them beside the jeans.
So like each chapter is a week or two with respectively girl and what happens over the summer.
I liked them. All four books are a coming of age story...
