I'm a fresh author, unpublished as on the other hand, and I would approaching to know what publishers still adopt submissions?
The book I'm working on is Christian Romance/Drama. I'm not sure if that makes a difference in finding a publisher.

Michael doesn't know what he's talking about. Self-publishing is not the way to shift; unless you only want a few copies of the book. Bookstores do not accept books that have be self-published, because ANYONE can selfpublish. That being said, the majority of it is junk that was rejected from actual publishers.
Research the best publishers for your genre; some merely accept certain genres and styles. Find the best publisher for your manuscript.
I muse you also need to research the process of publication some more before you go in the order of this; you' certainly benefit from it.
Good luck.
Yes, the genre makes a difference, because most publishers don't publish every genre. Many small presses will adopt queries from writers. Most large publishers and many small will with the sole purpose accept manuscripts from agents. You'll need to find a publisher that publishes Christian fiction and read their submission guidelines. There are a few Christian publishers, but scrutinize out for the scams and vanity presses. No one will ask you to pay a dime to be published. Legitimate publishers will income you an advance and pay you royalties on your book, and they don't charge you anything. Agents don't get rewarded until you do. So, never pay to be published. I'd stay away from search engines when looking for a publisher or agent and look to writer communities. Many writer communities will also discuss publishers and thats how you can find out which are reputable or not. Search engines will bring up the vanity presses and scam artists.
BTW, you're not a contemporary "author," because you're not published. You're a writer or an aspiring author.
