Is reading stephen king books a sin?
Because there is just so much swearing, is that destroying our soul or our mind. Especially if you recieved the Body of Christ in church, I wouldn't want reading sins to soil the sacrament.
Answers:
I hope not else I'll be writhing in hell for eternity!! Swearing only destroys your mind and soul if you let it - intuitively i don't see how a few coarse words can subvert a person's core. Stephen King doesn't use these words for "shock value", they are a viable use of language and are often used in natural and sensible fashion. if you have a problem with it don't read his books and don't use those words but don't try to suggest your beliefs and planning are RIGHT and others can't have an opinion.
Yes, reading any book is sinful.
Expanding your vocabulary, knowledge and outlook on the world is sinful.
Reading for entertainment is sinful.
You should never read - not even the bible. Rather you should stay unaware and subject to the fear based doctrine of those that wish to control you.

The thing that will be responsible for 'destroying our soul or our mind' is exactly what you are talking nearly. Bowing to the fear instilled in you by narrow minded religious doctrine will verbs any chance of you being you.
Read then read again and revise. Open your mind.
As for religion, I do not wish to sway you from your belief or faith. Though I do ask how you can be truly faithful if you follow a closed pedestrian area and do not explore your faith by reading and learning about it and the world outside of that religious conviction.

how could reading a book be a sin? I don't know how. Your not the one doing the cursing and stuff. Frankly every book you'll find know a days will have a lOT more swearing.
I don't know if i'm the best one to assist with this though, i don't know anything about religion...
But my friend is very religious and she read very 'bad' (not my definition , i don't find them bad) books. LOL.
If you feel its wrong though don't read it. I think its a bit extreme to not read a book beside swearing in it. Why don't you ask somebody in your church or something, see what they think.
If Christianity teaches not to read, not to expand our minds, and not to imagine, then it really is a curse.
I will be going the same process a wikikiwi too as I love his books! I started reading his books as a teen when I wore full Salvation Army uniform! So I guess the fires of hell are waiting for me!
I think some of the fiction in the bible are far worse than that of Stephen King - sorry but its just my assessment!
Is it a sin? Well no, because you yourself are not commiting it.

But no, Stephen King books are not sins. They are books. It is the person themself who sees the sin.
I swear close to a sailor, but do I think it is a sin; no. Why? Because the simple fact is sin is what makes us sepreate from god. But ask yourself; how is it that words that WE confer meaning to able to push us away from God, the all powerful and adjectives mighty.
I mean, RAPE is a sin, because we mock god's gift by hurting someone in the must disgusting agency ever.
But the simple fact is, NO ONE is perfect. We all own sin. But the important thing is that we realise that and we try to better ourselves.
I personally don't construe it's a sin, but you need to make the decision for yourself. If you're really curious, you could deliberate of reading his books as getting instruction on what NOT to do.

If I publish work there how do I ensure copy protection? How do I ensure my work doesn't get plagiarised I'm not sure about Booksie but on deviantart you enjoy the option of putting a watermark on your art.
