What is the best e-reader device today?
i am confused by the e-readers...kindle, sony, irex, plastic logic and the kindle app for the ipod touch...any opinions...
Answers:
Do you plan to read repeatedly with the device? If so, don't choose to use Kindle App for iPod Touch. Not only its screen is too small, but also the blind isn't designed for reading. It will harm your eyes if you read with it for long hours.
Among the e-readers, Kindle and Sony are most popular; few people buy other brands. Between the Sony and the Kindle, I'll utter the Kindle is much better. Read this review to know more:

I own the Kindle 2 and I like it very much. It is better than Sony Reader because Amazon provide good content support, and the number of books available within Kindle format is kept on increasing (right now there are over 350,000 Kindle books). Sony Reader, however, many users complain that it is difficult to find suitable books, and books on it are more expensive than the Kindle. Other benefits of the Kindle over Sony Reader include the free wireless internet access, and the text-to-speech function.
If you requirement to read PDF with charts and graphics, you may want to go for the Kindle DX. If you've limited budget, after the Kindle 2 is good enough.
Hope this helps.
The Kindle and the Sony Reader are the two best and most popular e-reader devices. Others are not comparable in terms of price and functions.
Between Sony Reader and the Kindle, you should definitely choose the Kindle if you're surrounded by the U.S. It is more easy for you to find a book on the Kindle, compared to Sony Reader. Books on the Kindle are cheaper in price too. A big plus is that you can have free unlimited internet access beside the Kindle. There are two models for the Kindle: Kindle 2 and Kindle DX. The Kindle 2 recently has a price slash so it may be a better buy. However, if you stipulation the e-book reader to read PDF files with complicated charts or tables, then you'll entail the Kindle DX. Read this review and it should help you decide between the two:
