Anybody hold an E-reader?
Okay, well I want to get an e-reader, but I don't know which one. I don't like the look of the kindle, but everyone say its better but I still don't know. The Sony Reader looks real cool but I heard some bad stuff nearly it. Anyway I want to know a couple things to those of you who own e-books. 1) Can you highlight and take notes next to the Kindle 1 or 2 2) Which one has cheaper books and can you get free books? or if you have an e-reader approximatly how much does a book cost, simply to compare prices, see how much the 1st Harry Potter book costs 3) What do you like and dislike about your e-reader Thanks so much!

Without a doubt, Amazon Kindle is better than the Sony Reader. Not only the Kindle comes beside completely free wireless internet, but also it is more easy to find books and they are much cheaper than books on Sony Reader.
Read this thorough review and you'll know, it is the best review I've ever read:

Yes, you can accentuate and take notes with both the Kindle 1 or Kindle 2, and buying books to both of the devices are merely the same. There is a very good comparison between the two devices here:

I love my Kindle 2 remarkably much, and I prefer the Kindle 2 over Kindle 1. If you are thinking of getting a Kindle, I'll say get it and you won't regret. Since Amazon provide books for the Kindle cheaper than actual books, it has save me quite a lot of money. Right now I've read over 10 books next to the Kindle, and I really like the idea that I can bring and store all paperwork with the handy device. Besides, it uses the e-ink technology, so even I read with the device for long hours, I don't feel tired. My just complaint is the white case, right now all the Kindles are within white color... I think it will be cool if I can have a black or deep blue color Kindle ;)
I'll suggest you to read this review from a top reviewer, it outlines reasonably a lot of benefits of the Kindle and also why it is worth especially at the end of the review:

I own the Kindle 2, so let me confer you some of my opinions. I've to say I I love it! I think I've read over 30 books near my Kindle, no glitches so far!
One of the reasons I love my Kindle is that it has helped me upgrade a lot on my efficiency and utilize my time. Before I have the Kindle, waiting time resembling when I'm waiting for friends or waiting for shuttle bus or some thing like that is simply shrunken. Now I just need to bring the Kindle 2 along with me, and adjectives my favorite books are inside it. Another thing I like the most is the text-to-speech function, which means I can "read" books in need even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I've myself busy on some boring things, say when I'm on the step machine or doing some housework...
I close to reading and at the beginning I missed a bit on the feeling of reading books. But now I love to hold the Kindle, the e-ink seem to work very well, it is really like reading books... Now I habitually read with the Kindle for several hours but I don't feel tired...
And books on the Kindle are cheaper than actual paper interpretation. Amazon also provides quite a lot free or very cheap books. And yes, you can underline and take notes on the Kindle. I remember I read these reviews about benefits of the Kindle when I established to buy it:

I won't recommend the Kindle 1, as it is only $100 difference between a used Kindle 1 and new Kindle 2, and the Kindle 2 has relatively a lot of enhancements over the Kindle 1. It is really much better than the Sony Reader too. One most important piece is that books on the Kindle are much cheaper than books on the Sony Reader. It is also more easy to find a book for the Kindle as compared to Sony, as Amazon provide more content for its Kindle.
Finally, you are lucky that Amazon recently announced a price slash on the Kindle 2. It is now selling $60 cheaper than the price I get my Kindle (at $359)... So take the chance.
Hope it helps :) Source(s): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00154J… (Kindle 2 after price slash)
