What available e-book reader would you recommend?

I'm interested in purchasing an e-book reader but with the current lack of rise and fall I feel it's hard to make a proper choice.

Waiting for different models (such as the rumored iread) is an option. And extra functionality is appreciated but not necessary, I will only use it to read.

I own the Kindle 2 and I'll recommend it too. It is excellent. There is a hugely thorough review about it here:

The review also mentioned that the battery is non-replaceable. For me, I just gain the 2 years extended warranty, so in case there is any freestyle failure or even accidental break, I can just claim for a current Kindle:

Hope this helps. Source(s): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00154J… (Kindle 2 homepage)
The best and most popular two e-book readers are the Amazon Kindle and the Sony Reader. Among the two, I'll say the Kindle is better than Sony Reader.

If you solitary use it for reading, the reading experience on the Amazon Kindle is the best. And I think the Kindle 2 is the best buy right now. You can read this review from a top reviewer, it tells why it worths especially at the expire of the review:

There is also a review here from a previous Sony Reader owner:

So there are more books available for the Kindle, and books on the Kindle are cheaper than actual books. I think it is also a good hit and miss for you to get the Kindle 2, as Amazon just announced a price slash on the device. It is now selling $60 cheaper than the price I get mine. So take the chance.

Hope it helps :) Source(s): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00154J… (Kindle 2 after price slash)

I'll recommend any the Kindle 2 or the Kindle DX. I suggest you to read this review about the Kindle 2, it is the best review I've ever read:

To choose among the Kindle 2 and the Kindle DX, there is a good comparison between them here:
