Advice on e-book reader please?

I'm looking for
- Pdf compatability as most scientific journals come in this format.
- Newspaper subscription would be a bonus but not a requisite
- Access to big online store such as the kindle (or anything similar)
- Some kindly of Wireless connectivity (so i can shop for books on the go)
- Possibly the ability to annotate (an uber bonus!)
- Must be able to display pictures (as again alot of my reading is scientific journal - colour would be a bonus)
- Decent memory
-Back up/syncing with laptop compatibility

Is there a device that meets most save all of my needs and do you have any nonspecific advice?
Answers:
My guess is that you'll need an actual laptop; I don't think any of the current ebook reader do all of that, exactly.

However, http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/E-book_R… is a big chart of e-Ink readers, and http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/E-book_R… is a comparison chart of LCD displays. Of them, only 1 have a color display; I don't know how much that affects your decision.

The iRex Digital Reader sounds closest to what you're looking for, but I'm not sure it's got all those features. (I enjoy a Sony Reader and am much less certain of the features of all the other ebook reader.) The iRex readers may not have access to "a store," but they do have wifi, and probably can download from any standard ebook store.

Most ebook reader can read PDFs--poorly. PDFs that are formatted for letter-size paper or even book-sized (generally A5 or so) are big for the ebook readers, so they either show up next to very tiny text, or are reformatted, which can lose things like charts or pictures.

The forums at Mobileread.com can probably back you find out what's available, and if there's a device or a selection of them that suits you. Source(s): http://www.mobileread.com
