Using Palm VIIx as E-book reader ?
Does anyone know how (or if) I can download e-books (saved in .doc, .txt, and PDF formats) onto a PlamOne VIIx handheld?

http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/E-book_s… lists the kind of ebook documents that will run on the Palm OS (I'm not sure which version a VIIx can use; you'll have to find that out.)
You can get (free) software to read PalmDocs, Mobipocket docs, and Adobe Reader for Palm. I believe you can't directly read .doc or .txt files on it, but you can catch free, simple converters that'll change them to something you can read.
