Portable E-book reader for PDF?

I have an extensive library on my home PC most of the books are in PDF format and some are Microsoft Reader. I would love to hold something I can carry around to read them. Ive read some reviews on the Kindle and the Sony readers but not sure which one has what I'm looking for. I hold a few hundred books in PDF and I would really like to read them more comfortably instead of at the computer desk. I'm not looking for a laptop or something with a small peak like a cellphone, want something about the size of a book :) Thank you in finance to anyone who can help!

The Sony ebook readers will read PDFs natively; the Kindle needs to enjoy them converted (but I'm told this is a simple & painless process).

None of the current ebook readers are really good with PDFs, because most PDFs aren't designed to read on such a small eyeshade. The Sony re-fits the PDF to the screen, which is ~3.5x4.5", so letter-sized PDFs are really really small. It also has a way to "reflow" the layout, so the set book is bigger, and the original formatting is gone (which doesn't matter with novel, but can be troublesome with magazines), but it works better with some PDFs than others--it depends on how well they be made in the first place.

I like my Sony because it's easy for me to put PDFs on it, and there's free software that will remove the white borders so they fit better on the small ebook reader. I wouldn't want to enjoy to email them to Amazon and either pay to download them, or have to lurk for a return email to manually place them on the Kindle. (But some people don't mind that at all.)

Sony and Aztak both are about to release 5" eyeshade readers for $200; both will read PDFs.

The two best portable e-book reader right now is the Kindle and the Sony Reader. There is an excellent comparison of the two here:

Hope this helps you decide. Source(s): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015TC… (Kindle DX)
