Why must a fireplace be started near broadsheet and kindling? Please relief! Hard.?

Why must a fire in a fireplace be started with paper and kindling? Why not oil lamp the logs directly with a match?
Answers:
To be immaculately honest, I won't be much help with the scientific aspect. But practicality is what I do best so here go:

Paper, leaves and sticks are all more flammable than logs for a couple of reasons. One is pure size. Less heat is required to ignite an 1/8" tacky leaf than a 6" thick log. I believe it also has to do beside density to some degree. Then another thing to look at is moisture. Trees collect water surrounded by their roots, and although it eventually gets to their leaves for photosynthesis, it passes through the trunk and branches first, which is what most logs are made of. So all the moisture that tree be using to survive is, for the most part, still being held in that wood, which make it more resistant to flame. Obviously eventually the heat from the kindling makes that water evaporate, which is why it eventually burns. Hope I help. :]
A combustion antipathy requires fuel, oxygen and heat. In the case you mention, the heat must be adequate for the oxygen to react with the fuel to ignite. Wood is your fuel and you must raise the warmth sufficiently high for it to ignite. It doesn't have to be paper and kindling. You can also use pellet of compressed wood, wood chips, sawdust that is compressed into pellets and recently, pellet made of cotton and parafin have become a popular (and neat) way to get wood hot satisfactory to burn. You put your firewood into the grate, put several of these small pellets on the floor of the fireplace and light them. They, in turn, be paid a very large fire and quickly ignite the wood. Obviously, a single clash cannot cause enough heat to ignite a grate full of firewood.
There is not enough energy in the meeting to begin breaking the bonds that hold the atoms of the logs together. The match just cannot seize hot enough to do the job. The burning (oxidizing) paper will provide plenty energy to mix oxygen with the kindling and the burning kindling will oxidize long enough to start the process of oxidizing the logs.
A match does not put out enough energy to carry a log up to the temperature where it will burn. It's easiest to start the fire with something specifically easier to light; something thin that has greatly of surface area to react with oxygen and cannot conduct the bake of the match away quickly enough to prevent it from reaching combustion heat.
I'd say the bake from the match isn't high enough to grasp the wood burning. You need kindling to keep a steady hot heat.
