Puerto Rico is contained by the US, no export limitations at adjectives, however Amazon refuse to ship Kindle. Anyone know why?
Puerto Rico is part of the United States. There are no restrictions on the export of electronic products from the U.S. to the island. This is clearly stated in US Custom Laws and Regulations. Yet Amazon insists it cannot ship the Kindle or any other electronics (like a Krups Espresso Maker made in Germany!) because it claims the decree states prohibits them from doing so. The Sprint service the Kindle uses to download its data is available in the island and I believe people who've brought their Kindle here own had it work. Is this an honest mistake from Amazon due to ignorance of Puerto Rico's status or is Amazon purposely trying to exclude its many book customers in the island from obtain the Kindle. It is nearly impossible to get through the protecting screen of first and second line Amazon personnel to draw from any kind of answer from those who've laid down this baffling policy. Any have had any luck getting through surrounded by a similar issue? I want an e-mail address where all Puerto Rican residents who want the Kindle can write en masse.
