Are at hand any electronic reader similar to Kindle?
perhaps cheaper.!
Answers:
I just seen one advertised on TV from Sony.
There is Sony Reader, together with the Amazon Kindle nearby are the two best and most popular electronic readers on the market. If you are in the United States, I'll suggest the Amazon Kindle (it is not however available outside the U.S.)
Other than free wireless access, the advantages of the Kindle over Sony Reader are more content support and the text-to-speech function. Content support is the most important, most of the books sold for the Kindle are under $10 and in that is a much wider selection, while most of the books for the Sony Reader are above $10. In long term, nearby can be hundreds of dollars difference as you buy more and more books.
Another key factor is that Amazon is a very strong provider for the Kindle. It is now providing over 340,000 books, and the number of books is kept on increasing (I remember near were only 270,000 Kindle books when I bought my Kindle a few months ago). On the other hand, I've hear that many owners of the Sony Reader find difficult in finding books they want, as there are smaller quantity books available for it...
I like the text-to-speech function of the Kindle too, because I can "read" books without even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I've myself busy on some boring things, articulate when I'm on the step machine or doing some housework...
So these are my opinions. And I remember I read this review when I decide to buy the Kindle 2:

Finally, you're lucky that Amazon have just slashed the price of the Kindle 2 last month, and it is now $60 cheaper than the price when I procure it. So take the chance.
Hope it helps :) Source(s): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00154J… (Kindle 2 sale page)

I own the Kindle 2 and I like it really much. It is better than Sony Reader because Amazon provide good content support, and the number of books available in Kindle format is kept on increasing (right now near are over 300,000 Kindle books). Sony Reader, however, many users complaint that it is difficult to find suitable books. Other benefits of the Kindle over Sony Reader include the free wireless internet access, and the text-to-speech function.
Hope this helps.
