Kindle Comparability Question?
Can you only read a certain type of ebook? I have a massive collection of PDF books, will I be capable of read them on a kindle?
Answers:
Yes, you'll be able to read PDF books on both the Kindle 2 and the Kindle DX.
The Kindle 2 can read PDF files through conversion, as you can see in the third paragraph here:

And here are the details on how to transfer PDF files to the Kindle:

If budget allows, you may want to bring back the Kindle DX as it can read PDF files natively and it doesn't need the conversion procedure. Read this simple review and you should be able to decide whether to receive the Kindle DX or the Kindle 2:

Hope it helps. Source(s): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00154J… (Kindle 2)

The Kindle can read PDF books, just that handling of PDF on the Kindle 2 and the Kindle DX is different. If there is graphs and charts surrounded by your PDF books, it will be more safe to choose the Kindle DX.
There is also a good comparison here between the Kindle 2 and Kindle DX, for you to decide which one to seize:
