Does an Amazon Kindle work contained by UK?

Can I purchase the books, and will I be able to charge here when the battery go flat?
Answers:
As yet the Kindle does not work in the UK in lingo of the wireless downloading of books. You may be able to get a unit sent over from the states and afterwards download the books on to your computer and use the supplied wire move them on to the kindle. The battery charger supplied will most potential work in the UK so long as you have an American to UK adapter for the plug so that should be fine.
The main problem is that the 3G wireless size will be useless which to be honest I think is the main point of the Kindle, it can be overcome though. Source(s): kindle website
It will work as a reader anywhere, but you won't be able to grasp online with it in the UK in charge to purchase the books.

I'm not sure if the charger is 240v compatible.
