How do you turn the Kindle 2 completely past its sell-by date?
All I get is sleep mode and want it totally off so I can put on this screen shield.

Slide and hold the Kindle power switch for 4 seconds until the screen go blank and then release.
Sliding less than 4 full seconds singular puts Kindle to sleep.
