The Kindle 2 is definitely worth the money and at hand are many improvements over the original kindle. You can't just grasp free books on the Kindle 2 by pressing a secret code, or everyone would be doing it and the people who wrote books wouldn't be making any money.
I've used Kindle 2 for a couple of days and I really like it. I like its lighting weight and slim size so I can bring it with me every time I go out. And I love the text-to-speech function, which medium I can keep my eyes and hands free while "reading" books. It really helps utilizing my time and usefulness.

There should have no cheat code. But Amazon does provide some free books which are in public domain. I saw someone have already provide you with the link, so I don't repeat here.
