Obedience is the key to everything. Most Christians get hold of "cold in their soul" because somewhere they walked out of obedience to God. Sometimes God will allow you to be aware of this for a long time until you get sick and tired of being sick and tired and then He'll show you where on earth you went wrong. Trust me after sometime of feeling really miserable, you're ready to hear from glory. We must always stay sensitive to the voice of the Spirit. This why Jesus told His disciples to pray, give us this day our on a daily basis bread. This meant spiritual more than physical.
The human heart best beloved cannot get cold, or humans would die. It's a very far-reaching muscle that pumps the blood we need to survive. It cannot think, feel, be unresponsive etc. If a heart former to respond in the correct way people would suffer a heart attack. There is no sentiment in the heart, it is just a muscle doing a job.
Prayer. Prayer is what links us to God and if that prayer is fervent, you will feel your heart begin to rekindle. Even for a Christian within are times that we go through the dark valley, we can't lose hope. I of late reflect on all the blessings in my time and give Thanks for all that the Lord has done.

well,in simple jargon,an old friend recently asked me about my recent 2 year celebratory anniversary.
she said "does she make you a better person ?".
in adjectives honesty i replied no,but she makes me WANT to be a better person.-and no-one ever did that before.

In all my years of severer harm, neglect and denial; I know my heart has never grown "cold and unresponsive". It was more similar to; God, why have you forsaken me...?
Well if He hasn't given me a swift see yet hearing a good praise song will do it. Oh and I usually listen to Christian radio so audible range a good praise song is good probability.

How I have foolishly neglected that or been too cursory or listened to others instead of to His word!
It is not easy to read His word without before long being reminded of His extreme love and mercy and compassion and of His wonderful attractiveness and His wisdom in all things and of His glorious holiness and righteousness. Then it is complex not to admire Him and the heart softens in thankfulness and praise.
And then the desire that others might know too begin to grow.
The fire? Ah yes, the fire burns at my corruption and uselessness and my sin and pitiful wretchedness and my heart's cold unresponsiveness and selfish outlook. If it were not for the goodness of the Lord after I would have despaired and fainted in the home of the living, indeed I have, many times, but His compassions fail not and so I own not been consumed.
Somehow, only He knows, He will complete and correct that work which He has begun and that will truly be to the praise of the glory of His grace, and in the ages to come He will show the exceeding riches of His grace surrounded by His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Seems like so many of your question are speaking very important things to me. I know what it means to enjoy a cold kind of unresponsive heart towards the Lord. Definitely have had these times during my own christian put your foot with the Lord.
Sis, its in times like these that a sensitive of desperation rises up in me.. I tell the Lord. "Oh Lord Jesus.. turn me back to You.. I touch so empty and numb... Lord Jesus wake me out of this kind of state.. I consistency so distant.. Lord, bring me back to the first and best Lord for You.. warm my heart up to You, I want to be someone who responds to Your Love and Your care.. Lord Jesus.. cavernous in my spirit,,.. past all the coldness and numbness, I KNOW that I want You.. I know that You are the One I truly love and desire.. Oh Lord.. face-off for me.. rescue me from myself. I do love You.."
I have had many prayers approaching this before the Lord.. more than I can say.. but each time sis, the Lord have cried out in response to my cries out to Him... reaching me when I thought I was lost.
Interestingly enough...the love grows much stronger after this considerate of return back to the Lord's care and love. Hope we all would know that He loves us to the uttermost and have never left us nor forsaken us.. even unto the end of this age.
