Why? As if the kids are actually going to cram anything anyway....
It is a good perception as it is "green" and saves our environment. Students no longer need to bring heavy books near them every day. If this idea is promoted, I think more and more textbook publisher will publish their books surrounded by Kindle version.

Not yet. Not enough material is available for Kindles and other ebooks. Kindles don't hold color yet. They're not cheap enough. They break more easily than books, and are more subject to vandalism. (Break your Kindle, you loose adjectives your books. Someone drops your book into a puddle, you can still read it and have to replace only the one book.) You can hide forbidden reading matter more easily in a Kindle--it's hard for your tutor to tell when you're reading Hardy Boys instead of social studies.
All that said, I predict that ebooks will become more and more common over the next several years, especially at the better levels of education.
