Has anyone purchased the Kindle 2 from Amazon?

I have used my Palm Pilot as an e-book reader before, and pretty much hated it. I've be hearing good things about the Kindle 2 and want some opinion from ordinary readers rather than from electronics reviewers.
Answers:
I'll voice the best place to check is the actual customer review on Amazon. They are opinions from actual users, and you should be able to make up your mind after reading one or two reviews:

I'm a Kindle 2 owner and an avid reader. I resembling it very much because it brings me lots of convenience and helps me improve my value and utilize my time. Now every time I go out I bring the Kindle with me and take it out for reading whenever I've some time, similar to when I'm waiting for my friend or what. I like the text-to-speech function very much too, because I can "read" with my hand and eyes free for other things, like when I'm in the step machine... lol

There is a suitable review here talking about the new functions of Kindle 2, guess you may be interested:

Although I own a business that converts books to Kindle format, I AM a "regular reader" and have both the Kindle 1 and Kindle 2. Right now I have more than 120 books on my Kindle.

Here's what I love roughly it:

1. I travel a lot and read a lot - having the Kindle save me carrying POUNDS of books with me.

2. If I'm stuck somewhere (like the doctor's office or an airport) I can get the Kindle out of my purse and hold something interesting to read. I can also easily order a book if I'm not in the mood to read what's already on the piece of equipment.

3. The "next page" button is on both sides - so I can use either hand - may not come across like a biggie, but it's really convenient - especially if you want to eat or drink coffee while reading.

4. It's a breeze to buy a new book; from the time I hit the "buy" button to the time it get on my Kindle is about 10 seconds. Talk about instant gratification.

What I don't close to:
1. I really want a back-lit screen. I don't like always have to have a light on to read - - to combat that, I purchased a book light that clamps to the edging of the Kindle - so now it's not so bad.

2. Kindle 1 came next to a protective carrying case. Kindle 2 didn't - and I don't like it that I have to buy a armour. For the price I think it should be included.

3. The Kindle doesn't always convert images (pictures, graphs, charts) seamlessly. But that's of late an annoyance to me because I'm in the conversion business - - it shouldn't make a difference to a reader.

I hope this helps. Bottom chain - I really, really love the Kindle - I never thought I would use it as much as I do - I take it everything and cost-wise, once I bought about 20 "hard covers", the difference surrounded by the hard cover price and the Kindle price basically paid for the Kindle.
