Does amazon kindle use microsoft reader?

Answers:
No. But you can convert file formats of Microsoft Reader (.LIT extension) to file format readable by the Amazon Kindle. Software like this one can do the conversion, later it can be read on the Kindle:

If you're thinking to get the Kindle, I'll suggest you to read this review from a top reviewer, it outlines quite a lot of benefits of the Kindle and also why it is worth especially at the closing stages of the review:

Hope this helps.
The Kindle uses its own reader. You can, however, convert microsoft reader files to PDF or TXT, or whatever file format supported by the Kindle.

BTW, I remember I read these articles when I buy my Kindle:

If you're getting the Kindle, you're lucky because Amazon just now announced a price slash on the Kindle 2. It is now selling $60 cheaper than the price I got my Kindle... So take the casual.

Hope it helps :) Source(s): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00154J… (Kindle 2 after price slash)
