Amazons's Kindle vs. Sony Reader Digital Book?

ive been thinking of buying on of these, which would you recommend? why is one better then the other? pros and cons please!
Answers:
The sony reader is a bit cheaper than the Kindle 2. However, I'll still suggest the Kindle 2, unless you are outside the US (because Amazon doesn't allow order of the Kindle outside the United States) The biggest issue is the content availability. The Kindle is supported by Amazon with much more book selection. And Kindle books are cheaper than the actual books, so it will save you money in long term. In adornment, Amazon provides huge amount of Kindle books for free or at a low price. Sony reader is much weaker in this area.

There is a good comparison here something like the two digital book readers:

You really have to look at a comparison between the devices.

Here's a comparison for Kindle 2 VS PRS-505
http://freshtech.wordpress.com/2009/05/22/kindle-2-vs-sony-prs-505/

Scroll all the mode to the bottom to find a comparison for Kindle 2 VS PRS-700BC

As you can see from the comparisons, Kindle is better in the capacity, available content, levels of gray, and wireless qualifications.

Sony is better handling PDF format, offers screen rotation, and back-lighting...

there are others but those are the palpable ones...

Hope this helps. Good luck on your choice. Source(s): http://www.Freshtech.wordpress.com
I'm a Kindle 2 owner. If you like to read and you're in the United States, you should definitely budge for the Kindle.

Other than the free wireless access, more available content is also a very important factor. I know quite closely of Sony Reader owners complaint that it is difficult to find some books. Amazon, on the other hand, provide over 300,000 books in Kindle format, and the number is keep on growing (I remember in that is only 270,000 Kindle books when I buy my Kindle 2 two or three months ago).

Another great feature that Sony Reader doesn't have is the text-to-speech function of the Kindle 2, which finances I can "read" books without even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I've myself busy on some boring things, say when I'm on the step device or doing some housework...

I remember I read this review when I decide to buy the Kindle 2:

My vote goes to the Kindle too. Sony Reader is cheaper in price, but the Kindle provides cheaper books making it money saving for long possession. I recommend this review, it is the best one I've ever read:

Personally I would go beside Kindle. Here are Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Kindle is great for travel. It's wonderful to have a whole library at your fingertips in a slim, lightweight pack.
- Download books on the fly. If you don't like what you're reading, just buy something new. Hear something like an interesting book on a tv show or magazine? It can be yours in a minute.
- Easy to find and return to a specific topic, character or subject that you'd like to clarify or review after that. No more thumbing through the book to find a passage.
- Kindle is a great conversation starter. People constantly ask what it is, how it works, etc. and are consistently amazed. Amazon should have a referral program...a free book for referring someone who buys a Kindle?
- The dictionary feature make it easy to get the definition of an unfamiliar word.
- Great for reading contained by bed! You can keep your hands under the covers and still turn the page, so your hands don't get cold. The Kindle is lighter and can be angled better in bed.
- The page forward and put a bet on buttons are conveniently and thoughtfully placed so that it's easy to change pages, while page are not turned inadvertently.
- Long battery life if you turn off the wireless factor.
- Eliminates the problem of book storage. The books are always handy if you want to re-read them, but aren't cluttering up the house.

Cons:
- Charts, graphs, maps and photos are horrible. Even with the zoom side, it is impossible to see detail.
- Still some glare when there is light at the back you, but as I type this on my computer, I realize that my computer screen has much more glare.
- Crazy upright!
- Screen burn in is obvious at the bottom search nouns and along the margins of the screen, leaving ghosts of similes.
- Not enough contrast.
- You can't share books with friends. So you have to buy books on Amazon.
- Many of his elder titles are still not available on Kindle.

and for Sony
Pros:
- Fun and easy to use
- Its lightweight and you can hold a lot of books in the interior
- The e-ink technology is remarkable. Its abundantly like reading a real book
- Fonts can be enlarged.
- The functionality of importing Word documents is excellent, mainly since almost anything online can be copied and pasted into Word. But the title of the documents isn't able to be changed and links to other places within the document don't work right

Cons :
- There's a hulking selection of books out there but not as large as you might want and sometimes the enumerate doesn't always make sense.
- There's very little surrounded by the way of textbooks, professional or academic.
- The flair to read PDFs is a good thing, but you can't read the actual contents because you can't zoom on them. So, it can be a useful for storage but not so much for reading.
- You can hold hundreds of books on the Reader. But you can only read one at any given moment.

Hi, I've got a Kindle 2 and I love it. I heard, that Sony is better at displaying pdf files. But if you buy kindle format books from Amazon, this shouldn't be a problem.
