It is definitely the Kindle. Before the launch of Kindle DX, Sony Reader still have an good thing that they acn support PDF natively, while the Kindle 2 need conversion before they can be read on the Kindle 2.
But since Kindle DX is launched, in attendance is no longer any PROs for the sony readers (the touch screen is actually a CON, it make the screen looks glare...) Read the review here from a user who is originally a Sony Reader lover:

If you are deciding whether to go and get the Kindle 2 or Kindle DX, this review should help:

Hope it helps you making up the decision.
The sony reader is a bit cheaper than the Kindle 2. However, I'll still suggest the Kindle 2, unless you are outside the US. The biggest issue is the content availability. The Kindle is supported by Amazon with much more book selection. And Kindle books are cheaper than the actual books, so it will save you money in long term. In adding up, Amazon provides huge amount of Kindle books for free or at a low price. Sony reader is much weaker in this area.

I've just ordered my Kindle yesterday and can't keep on for it. I suggest you to read this review, it is one of the best:

I think the Kindle is much improved compared to the Sony Reader. Both Kindle 2 and Kindle DX are released this year, but Sony Reader is released last year, even for its most up-to-date version...
Check the connect below for a good video review of the Sony ebook reader compared to the Kindle. If you want to use your reader to access the web than go beside the Kindle. If you want to save money, skip the wireless and go with the Sony. Should be lots of cheap books very soon that Google has teamed up with Sony. I'm a Kindle 2 owner. If you're in the United States, you should definitely go for the Kindle (right immediately Amazon doesn't sell Kindle to people outside the U.S.). Here is a comparison of it with the Sony Reader:

Other than the free wireless access, more available content is also a remarkably important factor. I know quite a lot of Sony Reader owners complaint that it is difficult to find some books. Amazon, otherwise, provide over 300,000 books in Kindle format, and the number is keep on growing (I remember there is just 270,000 Kindle books when I buy my Kindle 2 two or three months ago).
Another great feature that Sony Reader doesn't have is the text-to-speech function of the Kindle 2, which means I can "read" books minus even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I've myself busy on some boring things, say when I'm on the step machine or doing some housework...
I remember I read this review when I settle on to buy the Kindle 2:
