Amazon Kindle 2: Money Saver?
I am thinking about getting a Kindle 2, I am going to borrow one from a friend this weekend to see if I actually like it. I read like mad, I have thousands of dollars worth of books throughout my house. And running out of room for them lol. But did anyone think it saved any money contained by the long run?? Also any other opinions on the the Kindle would be helpful as well.

Should save you quite a bit of money if you switch to electronic books -- looks like a great investment, depending on whether you win Amazon's
Kindle ( http://bit.ly/uQNEw ), or their
Kindle DX 9.7" Wireless Reading Device ( http://bit.ly/88LlT )
Good luck! Source(s): http://bit.ly/uQNEw

Well it's a little cheaper since the kindle books don't hold shipping like the others. And investing 200 dollars or whatever for a kindle is just close to buying another bookshelf anyways. You'd get your money back pretty quickly. The with the sole purpose concern is if you want to read off of a little computer all daytime. I dont know if they hurt your eyes or not.
I owned the Kindle 2, so agree to me give you some of my opinions. I've to say I love it! I judge I've read over 20 books with my Kindle, no glitches so far!
I love my Kindle because it has helped me augment a lot on my efficiency and utilize my time. Before I owned the Kindle, waiting time like when I'm waiting for friends or waiting for shuttle bus or some entry like that is simply wasted. Now I merely need to bring the Kindle 2 along with me. Another thing I resembling the most is the text-to-speech function, which means I can "read" books without even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I've myself busy on some boring things, read aloud when I'm on the step machine or doing some housework...
I like reading and at the beginning I missed a bit on the fancy of reading books. But now I love to hold the Kindle, the e-ink seems to work very economically, it is really like reading books... Now I often read with the Kindle for several hours but I don't have a feeling tired...
For books, Kindle books are cheaper than that of actual books. Amazon also provides quite a lot of free or very cheap books. I've previously bookmarked a appropriate article talking about this:

You can read this review too, which outlines quite profusely of benefits of the Kindle 2:

I recently bought a Sony ebook reader. I chose it instead of the Kindle for a few reasons. The biggest is support for different formats - the Kindle mostly uses their own proprietary format. If you have a book within another format, you have to email it to them, then they convert it and email the new database back to you. It's relatively cheap, but my understanding is that the converted file can sometimes enjoy problems - they don't proofread or anything like that. Being locked into a proprietary format can be a problem if they decide to stop supporting it. A few years down the road you may have an expensive etch-a-sketch if Amazon abandon their current file format. The Sony supports more file formats, including .epub files which is an open format. I own a lot of ebooks in .lit format, and use Calibre (a free, open source application) to convert them to .epub files that I can read. It will also convert to pdf and a few other formats, but I approaching the .epub format for reading. The fact that it's an open format means it's more expected to stick around long term.
I think the Kindle is good if you plan to simply buy new ebooks and read them. But if you already have some, I think the Sony is a better choice. And again, I surface like the proprietary file format of the Kindle is a bad choice.
Here's what I hold, and am very happy with: http://reviews.cnet.com/e-book-readers/s…
