Is the Kindle a apt investment for entering directive arts school?
I am graduating with a bachelors in one year from very soon and moving on to law school. During undergrad, I looked into the Kindle (and other similar products) as a possible textbook replacement, but never bought one because there really aren't any textbook that come in electronic form. Is this also the case with most directive school textbooks?

I'm a college student and I own the Kindle 2. I've a few textbooks on my Kindle, and it is cheaper than paper edition. Right now not masses textbooks are available for the Kindle, but as far as I know there will be more and more textbooks available after the Kindle DX is launch.
To me, it is not only for textbook, but it really helped my efficiency and utilize my time. Before I enjoy the Kindle, waiting time like when I'm waiting for friends or waiting for shuttle bus or some thing like specifically simply wasted. Now I just need to bring the Kindle 2 along next to me, and all my favorite books are inside it. Another thing I like the most is the text-to-speech function, which ability I can "read" books without even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I've myself busy on some boring things, say when I'm on the step contrivance or doing some housework...
And just in case you don't know, Kindle books, magazine and newspapers are cheaper than the actual paper version. Amazon also provides reasonably a lot free or very cheap books. I remember I read these reviews about the benefits of the Kindle when I arranged to buy it:

Finally, you are lucky that Amazon recently announced a price slash on the Kindle 2. It is now selling $60 cheaper than the price I got my Kindle...

I don't think the textbook industry has over-involved with the Kindle phenomenon. Although there are some online sites for case decree, I believe you can access them via the Internet although they some may require a subscription.
Amazon has signed contract beside three main textbook publishers, and it is said that eventually 60% textbooks will be available for the Kindle. I've mentioned more about textbook for the Kindle in another answer here:

I love my Kindle 2 very much. If you are thinking of getting a Kindle, I'll say obtain it and you won't regret. Since Amazon provide books for the Kindle cheaper than actual books, it has saved me quite abundantly of money. Right now I've read over 10 books with the Kindle, and I really like the conception that I can bring and store all the books with the handy device. Besides, it uses the e-ink technology, so even I read beside the device for long hours, I don't feel tired. My only complaint is the white case, right very soon all the Kindles are in white color... I think it will be cool if I can hold a black or deep blue color Kindle ;)
One more good thing for the Kindle is that in attendance are some websites providing free books for the Kindle. This site is the biggest, it provides over 20,000 free books available in Kindle format:
