How to re-kindle friendship short individual dishonest or evasive?
Okay, shortened version: I was once close friends with someone. Life and circumstances one what they were at that time in my life, we grew apart and haven't have contact in years. I recently reached out to this old-friend near an interest in keeping in touch and possibly rekindling our friendship now. While I'm ecstatic about this, there is one problem. She is most likely still surrounded by contact with someone else from my past who I lived in disquiet of for a long time. Someone who I do not want to know anything about me or my whereabouts, as this could pose problems for my family. So, how do I go give or take a few talking with this old-friend and updating each other on our lives over the years, short letting her know important info about me that could get rear legs to this other person? I realize that NOT TELLING is the best way, but I don't want to offend her by proverb - I can't tell you cuz it could get back to that entity, as this could surely squelch any changes we have of being friends again. Any thinking?

Can you contact her by email? If so, it's not that hard to say "please don't give my email address to anyone else." Then you don't own to specify who it is you don't want to contact you. She may guess, but still reiterate that no-one else is best, just in case one of her other friends have a loose tongue.
If you don't have an email address for her, you might try renting a mailbox and using that address when you write to her. Then if she does reveal it, it will not lead anyone to your home. Of course, it's still a good conception to ask she not share to PO box address with anyone else.
